The Virgin Kitesurfing Armada 2014}

Submitted by: Kiteboarding Stuff

Everyone is counting down for The Virgin Kitesurfing Armada! The VKSA is a festival held annually at CBK Beach, Hayling Island. It aims to bring the kiteboarding community together for a wonderful two day event filled with fun and entertainment.

This festival was founded in 2013 by youth charity and non-profit organization, Snow-Camp, as a fundraising event. The first ever Virgin Kitesurfing was on September, 15, 2013 and the Armada set a new World Record for the Largest Parade of Kitesurfers ever. 318 kite surfers from far and wide had participated and completed the mile course at Hayling Island. Last year, the event has raised over 70,000.

Now this year, the VKSA is back and bigger than ever! The VKSAs goal is to break their own Guiness World Record of 318 to 500 plus kiteboarders. Join and ride together to become official World Record holders!

The event will take place on the weekend of either September 13, 14, 21, 27, 28 or October 11, 12, depending on the wind conditions. This is called the wind window format operation. Based on the forecast, an official decision will be made and then communicated to the participants 48 hours in advance. So, everyone should be ready! The VKSA intends to draw a massive crowd of kiteboarders with their families, the kiteboarding community and even the public for a legendary weekend. Besides the World Record attempt, this festival will feature international kite brands, pro kiters with their demos, kite surf and kite movie screenings, music, bars, taster sessions, a family area, on-site camping and facilities, and most importantly, the fundraising.

Snow-Camp is still the host charity for this event in 2014, alongside RNLI and Virgin Unite. Richard Branson (Virgin CEO) and the Virgin team are also set to take part in this second World Record breaking attempt.

Volvo Car UK and Nobile Kiteboarding are also partnering with the Virgin Kitesurfing Armada.

If you are an intermediate or above kiter and you want to participate, sign up online now. There will be a registration fee of 40 and a commitment to raise (or donate) a minimum of 100 for the charities. The registration will cover: a Mystic event rash vest, a safety boat support over 15 miles, individual live GPS tracking of you and your buddies, coach transfer back to the festival at Hayling from the landing point at Pagham, unlimited Water Direct bottled water during the event, rider wristband enabling free access to the festival all weekend, the chance to be a World Record holder and your name on the official VKSA 2014 souvenir poster produced after the event. What a totally awesome deal, right?

There is still two to three months to go but if you are interested, wait no more and sign up now. Slots are limited or maybe even unavailable already.

This is a wonderful and one of a kind event (and party!) with great causes. This will surely draw recognition and attention to the water sport. Come, join and see this huge spectacle!
